Four Simple Steps for LinkedIn Success

LinkedIn is a social media site that is perhaps best known for being a place to look for and find jobs. It absolutely can be that, and if you’re in the market for a job right now it’s a place you need to be. Some companies are posting jobs to LinkedIn and nowhere else right now, which means if you aren’t looking on LinkedIn you might miss the next opportunity.

There’s a lot more to LinkedIn than job hunting, though. On LinkedIn, you can learn from other professionals in your industry, or even those in other industries. It’s a place to establish yourself as an expert or thought leader, as well, if that appeals to you. You’ll be able to do some online relationship building with coworkers, clients, and others you might work with, on the one social site where politics rarely comes up and you can focus on what you have in common.

There are four steps to take as you get active on LinkedIn. These steps are progressive. Step one is for everyone. From there, your personal goals will dictate how involved it makes sense for you to be on the platform.

Step 1: Build and Update Your Profile
