The New Side Hustles I’m Starting This Year
At the end of 2020, I was laid off from my full-time job. I pivoted and made what had been a small side hustle into my new full-time self-employment. My primary source of income now is consulting, using my masters’ degree and my experience in the field of nonprofit fundraising to help nonprofits raise money by providing strategy, grantwriting, and copywriting support.
I think it’s really important to have diverse streams of income. I make a small amount on the side through writing (I publish here on Medium and also on a couple of blogs related to my industry). I also make a little bit of money from playing games online (learn more in my article on that here!). But this year I feel ready to try some new things. I’ve been watching YouTube for inspiration and I’ve come up with three things I will try out this year.
Amazon KDP
This seemed like a good one to try because it has such low barriers to entry. It is possible to get started without spending a penny on anything. If you aren’t familiar, Amazon KDP is Kindle Direct Publishing, where you create and publish books online that Amazon will print when someone orders it. When an item sells, you get a royalty payment.
